Jane
Gibb, 1938-2005, writer,
artist and author from Plymouth, England. In 1982 she sailed with her husband
John from England to Cyprus in their 34 foot sailboat, returning to England
in 1985. In 1993 Jane and John moved aboard their 40 ft steel cutter, Honey
Jar and they crossed the Atlantic from the Canaries to the Caribbean. From
1993 to 2001 they explored the cruising grounds from Venezuela to the Canadian
Maritimes including the Caribbean, Bermuda, Bahamas and the east coast of
America.
As a freelance journalist Jane's articles on cruising in New Brunswick, Maine, the Caribbean, the ICW and Nova Scotia appeared in Yachting World (UK), enhanced with John's photographs. She contributed to Cruising World (US), Sailing Magazine (US), Islands Nautical Scene and Caribbean Compass. Her books, The RYA book of Caribbean Cruising and Reluctant Cook were the result of her many years of sailing and living aboard boats. More Details.
